For a cocktail workshop in Amsterdam, compare the actual time behind the bar, the number of drinks you make and the ticket inclusions. We use Bols at Paulus Potterstraat 14 as a concrete option for guests staying with us. Its experience-only ticket and its two workshop packages are different products, so choosing the right one matters more than a broad promise to become a professional bartender in an afternoon.
Compare the Bols tickets
The official ticket shop currently lists the following options. Prices are per person; confirm the selected date, availability and final total before booking.
| Option | Total duration | What you make | Listed price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cocktail Experience | About 1 hour | No workshop; includes a cocktail served in the Mirror Bar | €19.50 |
| Experience plus 30-minute workshop | About 1.5 hours | 2 cocktails in the workshop | €34.50 |
| Experience plus 60-minute Academy workshop | About 2 hours | 3 cocktails in the workshop | €46.50 |
Both workshop tickets include the experience audio tour and a separate cocktail served in the Mirror Bar. Three or four drinks across a package therefore does not mean you personally make three or four cocktails during every class.
Which option fits your plans?
We would choose the experience-only ticket for a short introduction to the venue and a drink, the shorter workshop for a social activity with some practical mixing, or the Academy option if more time making drinks is your priority. These are our planning suggestions; inspect the available sessions before committing the rest of your afternoon.
The workshop description combines a self-guided experience about genever and liqueurs with a session led by a cocktail trainer. It does not establish that molecular mixology, advanced photography or a professional qualification is included. If you want a particular technique or recipe, ask about it before paying.
Age, group size and mocktails
Bols states that visitors must be 18 or older and that ID may be requested. For a private event, the private workshop page describes groups of up to 42 and sessions lasting 1.5–2 hours. Private bookings are enquiries with availability to confirm, rather than guaranteed walk-in sessions.
The Dutch private-workshop information says mocktails can be arranged for part or all of a group. Confirm that arrangement for your own booking; do not assume it applies automatically to every public session. Likewise, explain allergies, language preferences and access requirements to the venue before booking. The experience audio guide’s language options do not necessarily tell you which language a live workshop uses.
Getting there from White Tulip
The venue is at Paulus Potterstraat 14, in the Museumplein area. The Bols visitor page lists general opening hours of Sunday–Thursday 13:00–18:30 and Friday–Saturday 13:00–21:00. A workshop has its own starting time: general opening hours do not mean a trainer is available throughout the day.
From our address at Warmoesstraat 87, check a current route to the venue in a walking or public-transport planner. Include the walk to your stop, waiting time and arrival before your session. Our earlier blanket claim of a fifteen-minute tram journey to all cocktail venues was not a dependable route plan.
We suggest keeping a meal break separate from the workshop and checking the way back before leaving. Ask the venue whether food, extra drinks or changes to your booking cost more. A lower headline price is only useful when the package actually matches what you want to do.
Book your workshop and accommodation separately
Book the activity with its operator. We have no confirmed offer that lets you book a discounted Bols workshop through our hostel website. Our code HOSTELAMSTERDAM is for accommodation when booking directly with us; review the available room rate and final total.
Our booking terms include free Wi-Fi, bed linen and towels, with reception open 24 hours. We do not provide luggage storage after checkout, so arrange another solution if your workshop falls on departure day. For a question about your stay, email info@wittetulp.nl or call +31 20 625 5974.
