How much of a deposit is charged when booking The White Tulip Hostel Amsterdam through a third-party

Third-party booking deposit information for White Tulip Hostel

Our Cloudbeds terms describe a 10% non-refundable agency deposit for some third-party bookings, but explicitly say this does not apply to every website. Check the payment conditions for your selected rate before confirming. We cannot give one deposit amount that applies to every booking through Booking.com, Expedia or another agency.

Correction to the existing video: the earlier video mentions a different amount. The video’s €20–€30 estimate is not a confirmed deposit rule. Use the booking-specific conditions and the explanation below.

What does the 10% deposit mean?

Our Cloudbeds terms describe this particular payment as a non-refundable commission charged by the booking agency. They also state that not all websites collect it. Do not assume that every platform charges 10%, or that an agency payment is automatically deducted from the amount due to us.

Before paying, look for three separate amounts in your reservation: what is charged now, what remains payable at the property, and any taxes listed separately. If their relationship is unclear, ask the booking website to confirm the breakdown in writing. Send us your reservation reference so we can check the amount recorded for your stay.

Which payments should you distinguish?

Payment What to check
Agency deposit Whether your website charges one, its amount and its refund conditions. Our terms describe a 10% non-refundable agency commission in some cases.
Accommodation payment The amount already paid and the remaining balance shown on your confirmation. Our general terms require payment for all nights at check-in.
Room-key deposit We may ask for a refundable room-key deposit at check-in. Our published terms do not specify an amount.
City tax Our Cloudbeds terms list 12.5% city tax separately, payable at check-in. Check how your booking confirmation displays it.

What if you have already paid for the accommodation?

Bring your booking confirmation and payment receipt. A payment to an agency and a payment covering your accommodation are not necessarily the same thing. Ask us to reconcile the receipt with the reservation before paying an amount you believe was already settled. Do not calculate the remaining balance by subtracting a deposit unless your confirmation explains that calculation.

Our terms also say we check the credit card on the arrival day and that an invalid card can result in cancellation. If your card has expired or been replaced, contact the booking website and us before arrival to establish how to update the reservation securely. Do not email your full card details.

Is the deposit refunded if you cancel?

The 10% agency deposit described in our terms is non-refundable. That does not establish the cancellation conditions of every rate on every platform. Read the cancellation deadline, accommodation charges and agency refund conditions separately before booking.

Our general terms mention a 72-hour cancellation policy, but describe the starting time differently in two places. Ask for the exact deadline for your reservation instead of relying on a calculated deadline from this article. Follow your booking website’s cancellation process, keep its confirmation and contact us if the reservation status is unclear. Our terms require a personal email confirmation for a cancellation processed by us.

How can you compare a third-party rate with booking direct?

Compare the same dates, room or bed type, number of guests, total price and cancellation conditions. A smaller payment today does not by itself mean a cheaper stay. Avoid assuming that direct booking removes city tax or guarantees a refundable rate.

For a direct reservation, check our Cloudbeds booking page and enter our confirmed code HOSTELAMSTERDAM. Review the resulting price and conditions before paying. The code does not establish the terms of an existing third-party booking.

What information helps us check your payment?

Send your name, reservation reference, arrival date, booking website and the payment breakdown from your confirmation through our contact page. Tell us whether your question concerns the agency deposit, accommodation balance, city tax or room-key deposit. This lets us investigate the specific charge instead of relying on a general percentage.

Existing video about third-party deposits

This earlier video is retained, but its €20–€30 estimate is not a current confirmed policy. The booking conditions above take precedence.
