Yes. Our published room descriptions list upper floors as accessible by stairs only. If stairs affect your ability to reach a bedroom or bathroom, contact us before booking so we can check the route for the room you are considering. Do not assume that a private room, lower bunk or lower-floor request provides step-free access.
Which room information confirms the stairs?
The facilities list for our triple room states that upper floors are accessible by stairs only. Our four-bed dorm room page lists the same access condition. Plan for stairs when considering an upper-floor stay rather than relying on lift access.
These descriptions do not provide stair measurements, a floor-by-floor room plan or a confirmed step-free route. We cannot use them to promise a particular number of steps, stair width, handrail arrangement or ground-floor bedroom. Ask us about the specific route that matters to you.
What should you ask us before reserving?
- Which floor is the available room on, and how many flights of stairs are on the route from the entrance?
- Are there steps at the entrance or along the route to the bathroom?
- Can we provide current photographs or measurements of the relevant stairs and doorways?
- Is the bathroom on the same floor as the room?
- Can any requested room location actually be confirmed for your dates?
You do not need to share a medical diagnosis. Explain the access you need, the room type and your dates. If you use a mobility aid, tell us which dimensions or turning space you need us to check. Wait for a specific answer before making a booking whose access conditions are essential to your stay.
Will staff carry your luggage upstairs?
Please ask before relying on assistance. The existing video says our team is always ready to help with luggage; that is not a confirmed porter service or a guarantee that someone can carry your bags at your arrival time. Tell us what you need carried and when you expect to arrive, so we can explain what assistance is possible.
Choose bags you can manage on stairs if you plan to carry them yourself. Do not use reception or a storage area as an assumed alternative to bringing your belongings to the room. Our Cloudbeds terms explicitly state that luggage storage is not available at check-out, so arrange another option if you need storage after your stay.
Does a lower bunk solve the access problem?
A lower bunk concerns getting into bed; it does not remove stairs between the street and the room. Likewise, a private room is not automatically on the ground floor or equipped with a private bathroom. Check the room, bathroom and building access separately before deciding which option suits you.
If you cannot use stairs, do not book on the assumption that we can move you to a suitable room on arrival. Contact us first. If we cannot confirm the access you require, choose accommodation that can confirm those requirements.
How do you book after checking access?
Once the room arrangements are clear, check availability and conditions in our Cloudbeds booking page. Enter our confirmed discount code HOSTELAMSTERDAM and review the resulting price and cancellation conditions before paying. A discount code does not confirm a room-location or accessibility request.
Use our contact page for questions about stairs and assistance. Include your reservation reference if you have already booked. Keep any confirmed arrangements with your booking details so both you and our team can refer to them.
Existing video and PDF about stair access
The earlier video is retained. Its offer of luggage help should be checked with us in advance; assistance is not guaranteed by this article.
Existing PDF brochure: this older document may contain general stair descriptions and earlier advice. Use the current page above and our direct confirmation for room access and luggage assistance.
