We recommend OBA Oosterdok for an indoor reading break, travel planning or a work session near Amsterdam Central Station. You do not need a library membership simply to visit or use Wi-Fi, according to OBA’s English visitor guide. Borrowing books, using a library computer and buying refreshments are separate services with their own conditions.
OBA Oosterdok opening hours
The official location page, checked on 12 September 2026, lists the following regular schedule at Oosterdokskade 143.

Check the location page and holiday exceptions before leaving. The old daily 10:00–22:00 timetable is incorrect for this regular schedule. Restaurant service, events and access to individual facilities may differ from the building’s opening hours.
What is free, and what costs extra?
OBA’s tariff page lists these useful visitor services:

For a simple budget example, one hour on a non-member computer plus two single-sided black-and-white A4 prints totals €2.90 at those rates. That is €2.60 for the computer and €0.30 for printing. Confirm the payment steps at OBA before starting.
Using Wi-Fi or a library computer
The official computer and Wi-Fi instructions say to register for Publicroam and select that network on your device. Registration requires a mobile number. Setting up the account before arriving can save time; staff can help with the connection process.
Non-members buy a computer voucher at the payment terminal. OBA members receive up to three free computer hours per day at Oosterdok. A card or voucher does not guarantee an available seat or computer.
Save work to your own storage before ending the session: OBA states that session data is deleted on logout. For travel documents, we suggest having the final file ready before paying for computer time, then checking the page count and colour setting before printing.
Babel, city views and the outdoor terrace
OBA’s food-and-drink page places restaurant Babel on the seventh floor, with views over Amsterdam. It states that the outdoor terrace is closed from November through March. An open library therefore does not guarantee an open outdoor terrace.
The same page advertises 15% off at Babel with an OBA membership card, or 10% on presentation of an OBA activity e-ticket. These are OBA offers with those eligibility requirements, not White Tulip discounts. Confirm the applicable offer with staff; we have not confirmed that discounts can be combined.
Accessibility, activities and getting there
The location page lists wheelchair access, adapted toilets and a lift or stairlift to upper floors. Contact OBA at klantenservice@oba.nl if a particular facility is essential to your visit. For an event, check the individual listing’s language, ticket requirement and start time.
Plan your journey from our address, Warmoesstraat 87, to Oosterdokskade 143. Use current walking or transport directions rather than relying on the earlier fixed fifteen-minute estimate or bus suggestion. Keep your belongings with you; do not plan around an unconfirmed library luggage-storage service.
