Quick answer: Roest is open again on Oostenburg as a restaurant and meeting place with a waterside terrace. For a current visit, plan around lunch, dinner or drinks rather than the beach games and food-truck programme described in older guides. We checked the information below in September 2026.

Is Amsterdam Roest open again?
Roest’s February 2025 reopening announcement described its return after renovation in March 2025. It introduced a restaurant in the industrial building, with long dining tables and a large terrace beside the water.
That helps explain conflicting information online: older descriptions of Roest as a temporary urban beach are not a reliable description of today’s visit. The reopening announcement’s early opening-hour claims have also been superseded by the current restaurant page. Check the current venue details for your date.
Address, hours and reservations
The current restaurant page lists Jacob Bontiusplaats 1, 1018 LG Amsterdam, with opening Monday–Sunday from 12:00 until late. It gives no fixed closing time. Call 020 308 6484 for time-sensitive questions.
Roest accepts walk-ins and reservations. Its FAQ says a reserved table is held for 15 minutes; notify the restaurant if you will be later. Report dietary requirements when reserving and again at the table. Vegetarian and vegan options are listed, but ask about your specific requirements.
We suggest reserving if dinner is the main reason for your trip. Ask separately about an outdoor table, the kitchen’s last-order time and any accessibility needs. A table reservation does not by itself establish that a particular terrace seat or event is included.
What does dinner cost?
The dinner menu linked by Roest gives a more useful budget guide than a general promise of cheap food trucks. At our check, cèpes ravioli and the vegan maitake-and-oyster-mushroom dish were each €21.50. Beef cheek was €22.50, and a fresh-fries side was €6.
For example, two €21.50 mains plus one €6 fries side total €49 before drinks or other courses. This is our arithmetic using the displayed menu, not a set offer. Confirm the current dishes and prices before ordering; a seasonal ingredient list can change.
The same menu advertises three courses at €45. Ask which choices or supplements apply rather than assuming every dish can be selected at that price. The menu includes shared dishes too, so read the number of people shown beside a dish before comparing prices.
Groups and evenings at Roest
The venue FAQ says groups from 12 receive a fixed three- or four-course menu. It directs groups up to 25 to online reservations and larger parties to info@roest-amsterdam.nl. Friday DJs are mentioned; check the current programme for your evening.
For a group, ask for a written quote covering the room, menu, drinks, dietary adjustments, deposit and cancellation terms. We would not multiply an individual menu price and assume it is the final group quote. Decide beforehand whether you want a restaurant dinner, private gathering or a specific event.
Getting there and choosing the right kind of outing
Roest describes Oostenburg as a low-traffic area and names Q-Park Oostenburg for parking. We suggest using a live journey planner with the full address. Allow time to find the entrance rather than relying on an old fixed bus journey time.
If your priority is sand, swimming or paddleboarding, this restaurant information does not confirm those activities. For lunch or dinner beside the water in an industrial setting, it gives a clearer basis for deciding whether Roest fits your plans. Check any dated event listing separately; a past celebration is not a recurring programme.
