For an Amsterdam street-art afternoon, we suggest combining a look around NDSM with STRAAT Museum at NDSM-Plein 1. Outdoor exploration and museum admission are separate experiences. The free ferry gets you across the IJ; it does not include a museum ticket or a guided tour.

Outdoor street art or STRAAT Museum?
Choose the outdoor option if you want a flexible walk and are happy to discover what is there that day. STRAAT describes the NDSM outdoor walls as a graffiti hall of fame, publishing dated selections of work. Treat those photographs as records of a changing place, not a promise that a particular piece remains visible.
Choose the museum if you want a collection with interpretation and a clearer visitor plan. STRAAT’s collection introduction describes more than 180 works by over 170 artists. Seeing an artist at work is a possibility, not a guaranteed part of admission.
STRAAT ticket prices and a useful budget comparison
The official ticket shop lists these admission categories:

Two regular adult admissions total €43. Two eligible first-Friday evening admissions total €30, a €13 difference, but that option only suits the specified evening window. These are calculated admission totals, excluding food or optional activities.
Guided tours and workshops are optional additions in the booking process, subject to date availability. Do not assume they are included in a standard admission ticket.
Opening hours and the ferry from Centraal
The museum’s visit planner lists Monday 12:00–17:00 and Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–17:00, with opening until 21:00 on each month’s first Friday. Current exceptions include opening at noon on 29 September 2026 and closure on 13 October and 5 November 2026. Recheck the calendar for your date.
From our hostel at Warmoesstraat 87, head to the IJ side behind Amsterdam Centraal and choose the free ferry marked NDSM. STRAAT gives a crossing time under 15 minutes. Allow extra time to reach the departure point, wait and walk from the wharf to NDSM-Plein 1, 1033 WC Amsterdam. The crossing time is not the full hostel-to-museum journey.

What to bring and how to explore inside
According to STRAAT’s visitor FAQ, a free Dutch or English audio tour runs on your own phone via an entrance QR code. Bring headphones. The warehouse temperature varies, so dress for the weather rather than expecting every exhibition area to be climate-controlled.
Small bags, backpacks and coats can go in free entrance lockers. Personal photography and video are permitted. The museum accepts card payments; its café requires museum admission. For accessibility, note uneven floors, an elevator serving the gallery and café, and an accessible ground-floor toilet. The panorama deck is not wheelchair accessible. Our viewing suggestion: stand back to see a work’s overall composition, then look closely at its technique and read the artist information. Comparing two very different works can be more rewarding than photographing every wall.
A simple afternoon plan from White Tulip
Check the museum hours first, take the NDSM ferry and make the museum your fixed stop. Leave the outdoor walk flexible around weather and your energy. Stay in publicly accessible areas, leave working entrances clear and follow signs around events or construction.
